  • What is the difference between an ALS ambulance and a BLS ambulance?

The difference between an ALS and BLS ambulance lies in the height of the ambulance. The ALS ambulance is better suited to continuous monitoring of patients (cardiological problems, incubation, respiratory problems, etc.). In the ALS, the medical team can remain standing if necessary to perform medical acts during the transport. In a BLS ambulance, the vehicle is just lower (not less confortable). Some BLS ambulance can be quite spacious (they just do not have the height to allow an adult to stand in the back). The BLS ambulance is suitable if the patient is stable and does not require special care (for example : traumatology). The ambulance crew does not differ according to the type of ambulance.
